[Fairview Heights, Il.]-On June 26, 2012 at approximately 11:38 am, Fairview Heights officers were dispatched to The Buckle, located within the St. Clair Square shopping mall, to investigate a theft.

Officers were informed two suspects entered the store where each grabbed an armload of jeans and immediately ran from the store.  A Buckle employee chased the two suspects as they exited the mall.  The employee saw the suspects enter an early 2000’s style white 2 door Chevrolet Monte Carlo with no visible registration.  The vehicle quickly fled the mall parking lot onto northbound Illinois Route 159.  It is believed the suspects stole approximately 15-20 pairs of jeans and capri pants.

One of the suspects is described as a black male, approximately 5’8” tall, medium build, wearing sunglasses, white baseball hat, white short-sleeve t-shirt displaying an Adidas logo, white tennis shoes and dark-colored jean shorts.

The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’ tall, thin to medium build, wearing sunglasses, a black baseball hat with a white logo, white short-sleeve t-shirt, blue jeans and dark colored shoes.

In addition, detectives believe a third suspect who remained in the vehicle as the theft occurred was driving.  However, no description is available for this suspect.

A short time later, a Caseyville police officer observed a vehicle matching the above description driving westbound on I-64.  The officer attempted to catch up with this vehicle and was involved in a traffic crash in St. Louis.

Fairview Heights Police detectives are investigating the theft and have retrieved video surveillance of the suspects fleeing the mall.
