Suspect Pepper Sprayed Young Mother and Daughter

On Saturday, May 12, 2018 at about 6:00 p.m., Fairview Heights Police officers were called to the Old Navy Store parking lot at 6015 North Illinois Street for a report of a disturbance.

Upon arriving, officers learned that a pregnant 21 year old woman and her 2 year old child had been pepper sprayed by another person on the parking lot. The victim and witnesses reported that the suspect approached and confronted the victim, and used the pepper spray without warning. Officers found the victim and her child in obvious signs of distress from being sprayed. They were later checked at a local hospital and released.

The suspect had already departed the scene before officers arrived. However, the victim knew the suspect by name and readily identified the her. The suspect was taken into custody later that day in Belleville.

The suspect has since been charged by the State’s Attorney with three felony counts of aggravated battery. The suspect is identified as:

Her bail was set at $75,000. She was later transported to the St. Clair County jail.
