Alarm Sounds; Scares off Would-Be Burglars

On Thursday, May 17, 2018, at approximately 12:45 p.m., officers responded to Kassing Drive, Fairview Heights to investigate an attempted burglary to a residence.

When officers arrived, the homeowner reported that two males had knocked on the front door, but not knowing the individuals the victim did not answer. A few moments later footsteps were heard on the roof, followed by the breaking of glass. The home’s security alarm was activated which appeared to have scared the males away. The suspects are described as black males in their late teens, wearing dark clothing, with one of the males having long braided hair. FHPD officers along with a K-9 unit from the Belleville Police Department canvassed the area but did not locate the suspects.

It is unknown if the suspects knew anyone was home at the time of the attempted break-in. There were no injuries reported.
