Disturbance on Metro Bus Ends in Felony Charges

On Monday, April 24, 2017, at approximately 2:15 pm, Fairview Heights officers were dispatched to the Fairview Heights Metro Link station, 9800 State Rt 161 for a domestic disturbance between a male and female. When officers arrived they learned the male:

Kevin M. Stringer
M/B, 30 years of age
1007 Petite Dr.
East St. Louis, IL

Had struck his girlfriend in the face numerous times while on a Metro bus and attempted to drag the victim from the bus by her hair. Stringer fled from the scene prior to officer’s arrival but was located a short distance away and taken into custody. The victim received injuries to her face, which consisted of cuts and swelling. She was later transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday, April 26, 2017, a warrant was issued by the St. Clair County State Attorney, Brendan Kelly’s office, charging Stringer with two counts of aggravated battery in a public place, which are class 3 criminal felonies.

Stringer is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail with his bond set at $30,000.
