Home Destroyed by Late Night Fire

On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 12:53 a.m., officers were dispatched along with fire personnel to 9739 Old Lincoln Trail for a house fire.

When officers arrived they found no one at the home, but the house was fully engulfed in flames. The Fairview Heights Fire Department battled the blaze until the early morning hours. No injuries were reported during the fire.

This same home was the target of a drive-by shooting on March 22, 2017. That incident occurred at just after midnight, when one or more suspects fired multiple shots into the house. No one was injured during the shooting. FHPD detectives are handling the drive-by shooting and are working with the state’s Fire Marshall to investigate the fire.

At this point in the investigation it is unclear if the two events are related. The family has not lived in the home since the March 22nd shooting.

Anyone with information regarding either incidence is urged to contact the Fairview Heights Police Department, (618) 489-2100 or CrimeStoppers (314) 725-TIPS (8477). You can also leave a crime tip on our website, fhpd.org.
