Officers Respond to Evening Armed Robbery

On Thursday, October 11th, 2018 at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar General Store, 5217 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, for multiple 911 calls reporting an armed robbery in progress.

When officers arrived, they learned employees had been confronted by a male suspect wearing a black ski mask. The suspect, who was carrying an AK-47 style rifle, demanded money from the employees. Once employees handed over an undetermined amount of cash, the suspect left the store on foot.

Officers, including a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the robber. Luckily, no employees or patrons in the store were harmed.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6’00” tall, wearing a black ski mask, two-toned blue jacket with dark colored pants. The age of the suspect is unknown.
