Support Services Division
The Fairview Heights Police Department Communications Center is a 24/7 center responsible for handling day-to-day radio, 911 and non- emergency phone call operations. Telecommunicators are responsible for entry of calls received and dispatching appropriate resources—fire department, emergency medical services and police—to calls for service. The FHPD Communications Center is staffed by 3 full-time and 4 part-time telecommunicators and currently dispatch for Fairview Heights Police, Fairview Fire Department and French Village Fire Department. In 2013, 80% of 911 calls were received from wireless (cell) phones.
Records Department, staffed by two civilian employees, is responsible for the overall processing, maintenance and digitizing of department records and reports. This includes all reports pertaining to crimes, accidents, services, arrest records, traffic citations and warning tickets. The Records Department is responsible for the preparation of the monthly Illinois Uniform Crime Report. They provide assistance to citizens and law enforcement agencies as necessary. The department functions under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of Support Services.
