On Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at approximately 11:03 p.m., Officers from the Fairview Heights Police Department responded to the 9100 block of St. Clair Avenue due to an audible alarm sounding at a business.
Officers, upon arrival, discovered a large object had been thrown through the glass of the front door. It appeared as though the suspect had entered several vehicles on the lot of the business but it was not clear if the suspect had entered the business after breaking the glass.
An area canvass was conducted and a potential suspect was observed in the 9000 block of St. Clair Avenue. The suspect, upon observing the officers, fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody. It was determined the suspect was indeed the individual who had committed the described crimes.
The case was presented to the St. Clair County States Attorney’s Office for review. As a result, Brown was charged with Attempted Burglary (a felony), Criminal Damage to Property and Obstructing a Police Officer (both misdemeanors). Bond was set at $50,000. He is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail.
*All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
